COLL 100 - Critical Questions in Computer Science: Prompt Engineering, Instructor, William & Mary, 2026

This course introduces computing through prompt engineering—using natural language (i.e., English) to direct Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems. Students learn to solve problems, build projects, and create content using tools like ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot. The course lowers traditional entry barriers and highlights computer science as an accessible, creative, and impactful field. Real-world applications, ethical discussions, and personal reflections are woven throughout to show how computing intersects with society, shaping social dynamics, influencing emerging values, and redefining the critical roles of computer science in the emerging AI-driven landscape.
